BOCES
serves

component
school
districts
plus
the
City
School
District
of
Albany.
Together,
these
schools
constitute
a
population
base
of
more than 80,000
students.
In
terms
of
total
enrollment
base
served,
the
Capital
Region BOCES
is
ranked
fifth
largest
in
the
state.
Through
regional
programs,
the
Capital
Region
BOCES
provides
services
to
120
other
school
districts
that
are
not
considered
component
districts.
The
geographic
area
served
by
the
Capital
Region
BOCES
is
1,195
square
miles.
The
Capital
Region
BOCES
employs
more
than
1,200
professionals.
The
Capital
Region
BOCES
is
composed
of
a
central
administration
and
four
divisions
–
Occupational
Education,
Special
Education,
the
Northeast
Regional
Information
Center
and
School
Support
Services.
Together,
these
four
divisions
offer
more
than
160
separate
and
distinct
educational
services.
This
BOCES
is
governed
by
a
10-member
board
with
each
board
member
elected
for
a
three-year
term.
BOCES
Board
elections
are
held
every
April.
The
“voters”
in
this
case
are
board
members
from
the
component
school
districts.
Component
boards
also
vote
on
the
BOCES
administrative
budget.
Our
2008-2009
budget
totals $93.8
million,
of which $6.8 million is accounted for the administrative
budget. Grant-funded
programs
account
for $6
million.
