BOCES offers fiscal training for board members
Capital Region BOCES Business Services
will offer three fiscal training sessions for school
board members during the 2007-2008 school year. The
six-hour training, which is legally mandated by the
state, is free to component school board members. The
trainings will be divided into two three-hour sessions,
and certificates will be issued for each completed
session.
Part A of the training covers:
- a legal overview
- discussion of the roles and responsibilities of the
governance team
- advancing the educational mission
through fiscal accountability and
- fiduciary responsibilities and
financial reporting
Part B of the training covers:
- review of fund accounting and financial reporting
- budget development and management.
Please note: If you have
received partial training elsewhere and are unsure what
training areas you still need, please fax documentation
(certificate of completion) of the training you have
taken to Assistant
District Superintendent for Business Services
Mark Jones (862-4949), who will notify
you as to which training you still need to attend.

November:
Tues., November 13 - Part A; 6-9 p.m.
Thurs., November 15 - Part B; 6-9 p.m.
