Need to fulfill your annual HazCom training? Now you can — when it's convenient for you! The Health/Safety/Risk Management Service is now offering Online HazCom training for Capital Region BOCES employees and school districts who participate in the Capital Region BOCES Health/Safety/Risk Management Service. SUBSTITUTE TEACHERS — it is especially important that you read ALL of the instructions.
To complete ONLINE HAZCOM TRAINING:
PLEASE READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS THOROUGHLY BEFORE YOU BEGIN. It is strongly recommended that you print these instructions before opening the HazCom training course, or at least write down the HazCom e-mail address for your school district (see list below). IMPORTANT — SUBSTITUTES — e-mail it to your own e-mail address! See below.
1) Click on the link below to navigate to the training website.
2) Click on the “Introduction” button to begin and complete the six course sections.
3) After completing the course, click on the Course Test button.
4) Fill in the information in the space provided as follows:
• First Name (enter your first name).
• Last Name (enter your last name).
• Trainee Social Security Number (enter the last 4 digits ONLY).
• Your Score Will be Mailed To (Delete “null” and enter the HazCom e-mail address for your school district, as provided in the chart below. Note: this is the e-mail address that your proof of training record & test score will be sent to. Failure to enter the correct e-mail address may result in you having to repeat the training!!)
Additional mandatory steps for Substitutes:
1. E-mail yourself a record of your test. You can also print out the Online HazCom training completion confirmation e-mail for your records.
Then forward your Online HazCom training completion confirmation e-mail record to the Substitute Coordination Service HazCom e-mail address, subhazcom@gw.neric.org.
OR: While still in the test/submit screen of the Hazcom training, left click on the back arrow in the upper left corner of your screen to return to the test, scroll up to the top of the page and type the Substitute Coordination Service HazCom e-mail address where your e-mail address was, then go back down to the bottom and send it to your e-mail.
(Note, if you change districts, jobs, etc. you
may need that testing record that you e-mail to yourself as your
proof of training).

Important Note: This online training program does not cover all material required for compliance with the Hazard Communication/NYS Right-to Know regulations. Upon your completion of the online course, additional, district-specific information will be sent to you via e-mail.
This online training, even with the district-specific follow-up, is not suitable for all faculty and staff. Additional training should be provided for departments including, but not limited to: Facilities & Operations, School Nurses, Art, Science, Transportation, those identified as ‘at risk’ by the district’s Exposure Control Plan, etc.
