 Staff Qualifications

Notification to Parents (Sample Letter)

Under the Federally enacted No Child Left Behind legislation, Section 1111, all school districts receiving Title I funds are required to notify parents of children in a Title I school that they may request and be provided with in a timely manner information regarding their children's teacher(s) and paraprofessional staff.  The district must provide the following information:

  • Whether the teacher has met the State qualifications for the grade levels and subject areas in which the teacher provides instruction.

  • Whether the teacher is teaching under emergency or other provisional status through which State qualifications or licensing criteria have been waived.

  • The baccalaureate degree major of the teacher and any other graduate certification or degree held by the teacher, and the field of discipline of the certification or degree.
