PROCESS TO APPLY FOR AND AUTOMATICALLY RECORD
YOUR PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITIES

All Professional Development opportunities must be identified, approved and recorded on-line as the flow chart below outlines. The process will usually begin with you selecting an activity to participate in from a wide variety of sources.  If you do not see something listed, you may discuss your idea with your supervisor and subject to their approval, enter it into the PDP Timekeeper System online at http://www.capregboces.org/instrucservices/profdev/index2.asp.  You will identify the offering, which of the 4 areas of the Danielson rubric this represents to you, the presenter, the number of hours you expect to accrue (and if a conference how you will document your attendance) and, the date and time. This is sent electronically to your supervisor, who either will approve, modify or disapprove your application.  You will know the status of your request by checking back on-line at any time. You will have the right to appeal the decision by discussing it first with your supervisor and then with your Director if not resolved.  You will participate in that activity and your supervisor (or the presenter if a BOCES activity) will document your participation.  The PDP Timekeeper information will automatically be entered into your individual Human Resources Personnel file for review by you, your program and by the PDP Committee (who will be looking for aggregate trends).

From time to time, your supervisor may initiate professional development in which you take part (strand meetings, faculty meetings, etc.).  In those cases, if you have signed in as present, they will enter all of the information into your record on your behalf.  You will always be able to view and print a copy of your individual professional development record.  In this way, you can monitor your progress towards fulfilling the certification requirements and be able to present this information to SED as needed.

We have developed a flow chart of the process described above. Please be patient as this is a large graphic file and make take a moment to load. To return to this page after the flow chart opens use your browser's Back button.

Thank you and best wishes for fulfilling professional growth.  From the PDP Committee:  Marie Brander, Kimberly Brizzell, Barbara Burnham, Kathleen Collins, Katie DiPierro, Kathryn Gerbino, Patricia Gollub, Tracy Gyoerkoe, Deven Horne, Debbie Kaplan, Marjorie Kelly, Peter Kopcha, Laura Lehtonen, Christine Nofri, Anne O’Brien-Teta, Tim Roberts, Deborah Sorvari, Cathy Welling, Paula Williams.
